Venture Unknown presents Backyard Brews!

Remember the days when we were young, camping in the backyard? Having friends over, barely knowing how to set up a tent, a lil campfire, and maaaaybe sneaking a beer? Well we certainly do! We are returning to the backyard to camp but now we are adults and plan to do it at an urban brewery!

Join us Apr 22nd - 23rd at Think Tank Brew Lab and celebrate Earth Day! This will be an afternoon filled with friends, live music, kids activities, overland education, good food, and craft beer! All proceeds will go to Oscar the trash trailer project! Yep this is how VU celebrates EARTH DAY!

How bout some urban camping?A Gaia navigational workshop? A bouncy house for the young ones? A swap meet to sell some overland goodness? And of course no shindig would be complete without Appalachia music filling the air at sundown!

What's Gaia?

Gaia is a popular overlanding navigational software that is great if you know how to use it. Weeeell come gather in the brewery for a couple hours with Gaia workshop instructor Will Robinson for an open format discussion on how to properly use this very useful software. We will learn how to save files, organize folders, create and share routes. Come learn how Gaia can make your next adventure even better! #educate

What's for dinner?

Think Tank will be cooking up some of their delicious street tacos for us all! That's not it…. Every adult individual will have a 16oz craft beer to go with dinner!

What about the kids?

There will be a bouncy house onsite for the lil ones as well as corn hole. Sean may or may not be in the bouncy house.

Swap meet anyone?

Vendors are welcome or if you just have a bunch of overlanding stuff laying around come sell it here. No junk tho! We are classy, dang it!

Who's this band you speak of and did you say Appalachia music?

Vilai Harrington & the Hamptones will entertain us and really get the evening kicked off once we reach that golden hour! We think you're gonna like their style!

Late night movie?

Sure why not! For all the late nighters… We will have the big screen up and will have Movies in the Wild! What's showing? Well you'll have to come and find out!

Can I camp?

Well shoot yea! It wouldn't be a VU event otherwise! Where else can you camp in a brewery's backyard? Come set up on the grassy area and stay the night!

Is this free?

We really wish but stuff costs money. I KNOW who would have guessed it! But here is the best part….. 100% of the proceeds go to fuel Oscar the Trash Trailer project! Oscar is a trash eating trailer built by the community for the community! Oscar will be complete in the coming months and we are itching to take this thing out to clean trails and campsites. Fundraisers like these will make it possible! Wanna no more about Oscar? Feel free to ask. I love talking about it.

OK what's this gonna cost me?

-$50 (driver/per rig) includes camping, children activities, bouncy house, workshop, live entertainment, dinner plate, 1 16oz craft beer

-$25 (passengers) includes everything above. This ticket must accompany a driver ticket and is not a standalone ticket

-$12.50 (kids under 15) 1 food ticket, all activities and of course no beer lol. We ain't that group!

What's included in each ticket?

You will be given a food ticket for a big plate of yummy street tacos, a beer ticket for a 16oz beer of your choice (over 21 y/o), access to the Gaia workshop, live entertainment, kids activities, movie showing, and will include the night of camping.

What else do I need to know?

-This event will begin directly after Rigs and Coffee that has moved to this special day. The events are unrelated

-There is limited space so don't wait till the last minute. *50 rig limit

-To support the brewery; there is no outside alcohol to be consumed during brewery hours. Once they close @ 9pm and you are in for the night you may drink what you brought.

-This is an overnight lock in after 9pm. Please if you choose to drink we are asking you to stay for the night. VU does NOT condone drinking and driving

-Gotta pee? We rented a Porta potty for when the brewery closes.

-If there are spots left over on the day of Rigs and Coffee and you would like to stay for Backyard Brews we will ask you to please purchase a ticket.

OK well that about covers it. We really hope you folks will come out and enjoy this community get together while also showing your support to the stewardship projects Venture Unknown plans to tackle. This is how you can really make a difference while also having fun!

If anyone is interested in teaching a workshop (camp cooking, first aid, GMRS, recovery, etc) Free admission for all instructors.
