Lake Jocassee is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Southeast. Its pristine waters are fed by numerous waterfalls and is rich in history! It's also home to some pretty awesome trails. Both hiking and wheeling.Â
Musterground, Horsepasture, Dawkins Flat, Auger Hole, Chestnut Mountain.... Just to name a few. Â My favorite waterfall is in the area.. Â Â Rainbow Falls! It's a moderate 2 mile in and out trail that takes you to see one of the most powerful waterfalls in the area! It does not disappoint and we will go see it! One of my absolute favorite campsites is down on the Horsepasture River! We have camped and wheeled here many times! Last year was a nice relaxing time with the Venture Unknown crew. And guess what...?? We are going back! We try and keep our trips diverse. Not everyone is on 35s and is trying to rip mufflers out from their rig. So we try and mix it up with a good ol camping trip! Much different from the up at 7am overland for 14 hours type trip we're also known for. This trip is absolutely stock 4x4 friendly. It still has some nice wheeling tho. This time there will be a recovery workshop at camp.Â
********* ITINERARY ********
PLEASE NOTE this is a base camp type adventure. We will set camp explore and come back to the same camp.Â
Friday afternoon/evening at appx 5pm. We all will start to roll into camp (coordinates below), get set up, enjoy the night with a nice fire and good company.
Saturday morning- After a good breakfast and maybe a swim, we will head out to explore the Gorges. Might even make our way over to the awe inspiring Jumping Off Rock. We will try and cover as many trails as we can before dusk.
Saturday night - Once back at camp we will share a lil bourbon, stories, and enjoy life under the stars.
Sunday- We will wake up, drink coffee, be grateful for waking up in the wilderness. After breakfast we will pack up and make our way to explore more or maybe even hike up to the stunning Rainbow Falls. Sunday afternoon we all will wrap up the weekend with hugs, see ya next time, and head homeward.
