THANK YOU

Welcome to Venture Unknown Foundations Sweep Up The Southeast !!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you care about our public lands? Do you wanna help keep our lands open and accessible? Do you like to camp with a great group of folks?? Would you like to DO YOUR PART?  Well we would love having you join in on our mission! Join Venture Unknown Foundation again this year for our region wide…… Sweep Up The Southeast 2023!!!

The History….

"Sweep Up The Southeast 2022" rallied nine volunteer teams across seven

Southeastern states, uniting diverse individuals in a concerted effort to rejuvenate and

clean designated trails and campsites. With meticulous pre-planning and unwavering

dedication, we collectively hauled an astonishing 12,000 lbs of refuse in a single day,

leaving an indelible mark on the landscape and communities we cherish!

The idea…..

Having people all over the Southeast who care deeply about stewardship gives the opportunity for them to clean up “their backyard”. We have teams spread out across the region in several of our forests. You can join the one closest to your home or one that holds a special place in your heart. We need help!! Our scouts have found some deeply misused areas in our beloved forest. If you know of others that may be interested in helping please spread the word. There is a flyer floating around. SHARE SHARE SHARE

When??

  • Dec 1st camping available the night before the clean up. You may show up at anytime on this day.
  • Dec 2nd 10am safety briefing at rally point/camp . Clean up will commence afterwards and go on for approximately 6 hours
  • Dec 2nd camping available. We invite you back to camp afterwards to celebrate our success! Campfire and camaraderie is a guarantee!!

The plan……

This is where you begin to make a difference in keeping our FSRs, campsites, and day use areas open and accessible.

  • Decide if you are going to camp or just come for the day and sign up for your choice on the next step of this registration. CAMPING vs NONCAMPING
  • Registration will stay open till the day before (Nov 30th)
  • If a team is full..... please don't give  up.....back out and choose your next best team.
  • Show up to the rally point / camp either the day before the big day on (Dec 1st campers) or the day of the stewardship (non campers) On Dec 2nd @ 10am. The captains will communicate further plans and take questions in your team created chat. Chats will be created Nov 26th
  • Some teams may have USFS volunteer agreements in place and will have sign in sheets. If these are in place you will be covered under workmans comp. Those teams that unfortunately were not able to get agreements in place you will need to be aware of VUF waiver and agree we can not be liable for accidents.

Communication???

Once sign ups end we will invite you into your chosen team's Facebook messenger chat. Here is where you can rest assured your team captain will answer all questions and ease your concerns. We have found these planning chats helpful in many ways to stay organized. This will happen in bulk approximately after Thanksgiving holidays (Nov 26th). While in these chats please honor chat etiquette.

All teams will utilize GMRS radios during the event. If you do not have one, please dont worry. It's not required and most times someone will loan you a handheld if you like.
